The BHL Group participates in environmental activities for World Environment Day and World Oceans Day

Banks Holdings Limited is deeply committed to environmental initiatives through its "Better World" mandate which focuses on the Company’s corporate social responsibility efforts on building resilient natural environments and healthy, thriving communities. Last week, the group of companies celebrated World Environment Day and World Oceans Day. For June 5 World Environment Day, the group of companies including Pinehill Dairy and Banks Breweries partnered with Wirred Barbados at Walkers Reserve where staff joined forces to plant coconut trees. This activity contributed to the Wirred reforestation efforts and the NGO’s goal to plant one tree for every Bajan (285,000 trees). The Company also made a financial donation to the Wirred Barbados team to assist in their educational drive to build awareness of the need to reforest for biodiversity, erosion protection, and air quality improvement. On June 8th as the world recognized World Oceans Day, a team from across the BHL Group joined with staff from Ecohesion and the CleanUP Barbados campaign to clean up the Drill Hall beach in Christ Church. Safety and Environment Manager at Banks Breweries, Kelly-Ann Knight said, “our commitment to environmental stewardship is at the heart of our 'Better World' mandate. This year, our involvement in environmental activities has been particularly impactful. Our team came together for a successful beach cleanup, removing debris and protecting marine life, and we also participated in a tree planting initiative that contributed to reforestation and climate resilience. These efforts not only reflect our dedication to preserving our planet but also inspire us to continue taking meaningful actions every day to ensure a sustainable future for all.” (PR)
