Smart Agriculture
Our PINEHILL business depends on high-quality raw milk from our local dairy farmers and through its activities & decision-making and consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of the symbiotic connection between the company and the dairy farmers. With its firm commitment to its farming community, PINEHILL continues to support its farmers while also maintaining the high-quality standard of UHT milk that its consumers have come to expect.
We develop this important relationship through
- Empowering Farmers with Financial Incentives: Quality First Program. In 2022 the PINEHILL Dairy also took the bold step to introduce the Quality First Program – an incentive program tying financial rewards to the quality of the milk received from each farm
- Small Loans and Low-interest Financing: Supporting Operational Improvements Understanding that operational improvements on the farm oftentimes require significant investment, and that access to traditional financing for small farmers can prove challenging and costly, the Dairy implemented a small loan/low-interest program for its dairy farmers in 2022
- Reducing Costs with the Subsidized Feed Program In 2024 BHL/PINEHILL Dairy launched a subsidized feed program aimed at reducing one of the largest operational costs on the farm: feed. Working closely with a local feed manufacturer, the PINEHILL team secured preferred pricing on bulk purchases and passed those savings directly on to its farmers, ensuring that they could continue to provide for their herds without sacrificing profitability. The program not only reduces costs but also guarantees that farmers have access to high-nutrient feed, ensuring the health of the cows and the quality of milk produced.
