Bartender capturers ‘Miss Banks 2007’ title

December 19, 2006

20-YEAR-OLD SASKIA GRIFFITH has claimed the title of ‘Miss Banks 2007’.
A Bartender by profession, Saskia described her participation in the Banks Calendar Girl
Competition as a learning experience. “I had never entered a competition before and the
Banks Calendar Girl Competition sounded both exciting and challenging. Initially, my
greatest challenge was time management, but I quickly learnt how to juggle working,
attending school and my participation in Banks promotions. I also learnt quite a bit about
what goes into marketing a major brand like Banks Beer.” Saskia is pursuing an
Associate Degree in Hospitality Management at the Barbados Community College.
The Oistins, Christ Church resident said her family and friends were very supportive of
her decision to enter the competition, and were very excited about her win. She added, “I
am looking forward to my reign as Miss Banks. I am keen to play a role in marketing
Barbados’ most recognised brand- Banks Beer. In addition, I will be able to hone my
social and public speaking skills. The marketing tips I learn will also be useful in my
chosen profession in the hospitality sector. The job itself will provide some valuable
opportunities in terms of networking.”

The 5’ 3” beauty said her hobbies include socialising and travelling. Holland is one of her
favourite destinations.

Saskia Griffith was selected as Miss Banks from a field of ten hopefuls. The 2007 Banks
Calendar Girl contestants were: Nikita Goddard, Sonju Patterson, Sabrina Felix,
